MDF Features:
Stable acoustic performance, easy to process and shape, convenient surface treatment, moderate cost, poor moisture resistance, and relatively heavy weight.
Overall, MDF, with its stable acoustic performance and ease of processing, has become a commonly used material for professional speaker enclosures, but moisture resistance and weight issues need to be addressed.
Plywood Features:
High structural strength, better moisture resistance than MDF, moderate weight, unique resonance characteristics, slightly weaker acoustic uniformity, higher processing cost, and slightly less smooth surface.
Overall, plywood is more suitable for professional speakers with higher requirements for structural strength and moisture resistance (such as outdoor performance speakers and heavy-duty monitoring speakers), but fine processing is needed to compensate for the lack of acoustic uniformity.
